Narrative
Delia Balmer, a nurse at the agency, met Sweeney, who confessed to murdering his ex-girlfriend. Balmer rebuilt her life to face Sweeney seven years later when he was arrested for another murder.
Based on a true crime story
The bodies were dumped in the canals of Rotterdam (not Amsterdam) and London. This excellent drama is based on the true and horrific story of Delia Balmer.
Instead, we have Delia, who, to be honest, is not a particularly likable woman
Unlike many of these real-life dramas, there is no coverage of events or characters, nor is there a dynamic hero who jumps in to save the day. She can be abrasive, rude, quick to retort and hurl insults, and that was before she met John Sweeney.
It was simply amazing
However, Delia’s experience is so incredibly tragic that it often brought me to tears and filled me with anger and disgust at the attitude of the police and the justice system. Anna Maxwell Martin deserves to win awards for her stellar performance.
This show is not for the faint of heart, but it is worth watching
I sincerely hope that the police and justice system have learned their lesson and that the victims are not treated like liars and criminals.
