Hippo explores the upbringing of two cousins: Hippo, a teenager addicted to video games, and Butterfly, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant with a love for classical music and Jesus. Like the ancient Greek Aphrodite, Butterfly’s love is unrequited by her brother, who prefers to pursue the arts of war and chaos. The result is a tragicomic, hormone-fueled waking nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
